About Lebogang Monageng-Goad (aka Lebo Goad)

My journey began with humble beginnings in the South Africa, which in many ways, has shaped my perspective on community and wellness. With a background in law, I have developed a strong understanding of social justice issues that inform my work. I now serve as the Executive Director of Yoga Forward and am a dedicated yoga teacher trainer with Yoga Assets. I’m also proud to be a lululemon Ambassador and a Prenatal International Ambassador, where I advocate for holistic wellness for pregnant people. My commitment to social justice and equity in the yoga community inspired me to participate in the 2023 Teaching for Equity program with the Yoga Alliance Foundation, where I actively engage in discussions and initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive environment for all yoga practitioners.

My teaching approach is deeply rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, which emphasizes our interconnectedness as human beings, summed up in the phrase “I am, because we are.” This principle guides my efforts to create safe and supportive spaces for my students, including those in prisons, veterans’ facilities, shelters, schools, refugee centers, hospitals, foster care facilities as well as women and youth in underserved communities in South Africa.

I truly believe that everyone deserves a safe space to explore their practice and find healing. With my diverse background and a strong passion for community wellness, I aspire to make a positive social impact on the yoga community. I hope to inspire others to embrace their practice and join in efforts that promote meaningful change, knowing that together we can support one another in on this journey toward well-being and cultivate a more compassionate and equitable world.
